A Hidden Generation

A Hidden Generation

A Hidden Generation seeks to inform and create a national dialogue for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people who may not otherwise be informed about how forced Canadian child welfare policies have impacted thousands of Indigenous peoples’ lives.  Our film will be a means of raising the level of understanding in Indigenous communities that are still impacted and in need of closure, healing and accountability.

Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Movement - Ottawa

IPSMO is a grassroots organization that directly supports Indigenous peoples in diverse struggles for justice. We also work within communities to challenge the lies and half-truths about Indigenous peoples and colonization that dominate Canadian society. The organization is open to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, and focuses on local and regional campaigns. We provide support to actions and campaigns for Indigenous sovereignty, self-determination, defense of the land, environmental protection, cultural revitalization, and the honouring of treaties and agreements.

Justice for Deepan

Justice for Deepan

This group was formed in July 2013 to support Deepan Budlakoti in his quest to have his Canadian citizenship restored.  Deepan is an Ottawa-born man who the Canadian government is trying to deport to India, a country where he has never lived and is not a citizen. We have organized numerous public education and awareness events about Deepan’s case, situating his experience within a larger context of double punishment, systemic racism, criminalization and incarceration.
